I went through some thrilling adventures in both Peru and Ecuador, meeting criminals and rebels. I preferred the latter.
I also found time to relax and do some fantastic trekking by not taking the train to Macchu Picchu, visited glaciers North of Lima, and crossed the Las Cajas Park in Ecuador.
The unlikely final of my Gringo Road was Pasto, a Colombian border town, near Ecuador, where I was stopped by security personnel because I took a moto-taxi.
Of course, I asked them: "Porque?"
The explanation I later got from a passer-by is that, the killers [sicarios] hired by the drug mafia use moto to commit their crimes. So 2 men on a motorbike is forbidden in all Colombia. A great future for female driver, I guess.
