24 Brickworks

Near the rear of the property, located near the hedge next to the Fire Station and adjacent to the orchard, was the site of what is thought to be the first brickworks in New Zealand.

The brickworks produced bricks for local building projects using the local clay. It is possible that the bricks used for the well head came from this source.

There is only anecdotal evidence to support the location, which was described as being adjacent to the Horotutu Stream, near the rear of the property.
