Events

Special visitors from Kenya often prompt FOK dinner parties. Wangari Maathai was a guest speaker at one such event years before she won the Nobel Peace Prize. A Maasai performing troupe that was touring area schools enjoyed FOK food and hospitality in February 2005, entertaining FOK with traditional song and dance.

Keeping RPCVs informed about current events in Kenya is another goal of event planning. FOK has sponsored panel discussions featuring embassy and government officials, as well as other experts on Kenya, at NPCA conferences.

Fundraising, socializing, staying in touch—these too are cause for gatherings. Friends of Kenya members often meet in areas across the country for a variety of activities.

The next event will be the 50th anniversary celebration of Peace Corps in Kenya.
