Meet at the Refuge Headquarters
Participants (limited to 15) should bring binoculars, field guide (if they have one), and water and be prepared for field conditions by wearing long pants and appropriate footwear.
Join Mr. Irvin Pitts, retired naturalist for the SC Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department, as he leads an early morning birding trip around the refuge. A life-long bird watcher, Mr. Pitts’ passion for birds is obvious. Whether a novice wildlife watcher or expert birder, all will enjoy this outstanding opportunity to see and hear sights and sounds of the refuge. The group will carpool to various stops along the Wildlife Drive including the Martin’s Lake area, the Oxpen Farm Unit, and finish at the Lake Bee Recreation Area just in time for the 75thAnniversary Celebration and conservation exhibits. Preregistration required; register here.
