"Briers Mill Run (formerly Brier
Ditch) is a tributary of the Northeast Branch of the Anacostia River. The
stream joins the Northeast Branch at the confluence with Still Creek in
Riverdale Park, Maryland... [Briers Mill Run] subwatershed is approximately 4.1
square miles in size.
The overall health of the
macroinvertebrate [tiny animals seen without a microscope] and fish communities
in [Briers Mill Run[ can be generally characterized as poor.
The entire subwatershed is
located within Price George’s County, Maryland. The subwatershed has nearly 27,000 residents and a
population density of 6,448 people per square mile...The largest land uses by area in the Briers
Mill Run subwatershed are (1) medium density, single family residential (2)
institutional, open space and parkland and (3) high density residential
