The Friends Cafe in the Park

The Friends of Alexandra Park run a café each Saturday afternoon from Easter Saturday to the first Saturday in September from 2.00 p.m. until 4.00 p.m.  as a fund raising enterprise for reinvestmentin the Park.

It is manned totally by volunteers and the majority of the cakes we have on sale will also have been baked by our volunteers.

The café is based in the bowling green Pavilion and to get it operational each week we require volunteers to undertake the following jobs.

Bakers - we require a steady supply of scrumptious cakes to sell each week, If you enjoy baking in general or have a speciality cake you make and are prepared to make them either as a one off or on a  regular basis we would be grateful to hear from you.

Waiters – We require people prepared to give up a couple of hours to work in the café serving our customers, our only requirement is that you have a friendly attitude as the café is a local amenity where our customers are encouraged to meet and catch up with others from our community. Whether you are available on a regular basis or on odd occasions we would be grateful to hear from you.

Facilitators – our café is run from the bowling green pavilion. We require volunteers who will put out the signs advertising the fact the Café is open around the park, at 10.00 and takes about 20 minutes to complete, each Saturday the café is open. Additionally we need to put out the tables and chairs we use, this usually requires about 30 minutes to complete and usually starts about 1.00 p.m.

Obviously when the café closes at 4.00 p.m. the reverse work is required with all the tables, chairs and signs needing to be put away again.

Whether available to help do this work on a regular basis or on the odd occasion we would be grateful to hear from you either contact us through our email account   or pop into the café and discus it with whoever is there or come along to one of our meetings.
