Her treatment will be a long and tough battle, not only on her but also on her entire family. Financially, the family will be struggling with treatment, traveling, and added expenses that come with this upsetting diagnosis.
Jacob has undergone multiple invasive medical interventions including four open heart surgeries, at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), frequent testing and an abundance of different medications and therapies since he was born. A couple of years ago, they were told that he only has one working kidney, which has made it even more difficult as he, the team of doctors, and his family wove their way through different medical treatments over the years. At the age of five, Jacob developed PLE (Protein-Losing Enteropathy), which further complicated his already-complex condition and came with a myriad of new symptoms which have made it impossible for him to live a normal teenage life.
