The conference entitled "Modern Answers to Ancient Mysteries" is on Saturday 19th February 2011 at the Fountains Lecture Hall, York St John University. Speakers include Dave Parham (Bournemouth University) on The Swash Channel Wreck - a 17th century Dutch vessel off Poole Harbour; Dr Phil Freeman (University of Liverpool) on the Siege of Burgos; Dr Philip Buckland (Umea University, Sweden) discussing the forensics of climate and environment; Kurt Hunter-Mann (York Archaeological Trust) on Gladiators - The Cemetery of Secrets and Dr Ned Kelly (National Museum of Ireland) The Search for Viking Longphorts. Further speakers to be confirmed.
The cost of the conference is £75, to include lunch and an evening reception at JORVIK and three site visits on Sunday 20th February including Barley Hall and Hungate DIG.
