On May 16, 2009 I graduated from Fairmont State University’s Graduate College with a Master of Arts in Teaching degree. I am currently a full-time secondary Social Studies teacher in Upshur County, West Virginia.



08/2011 - 12/2011

  • I am currently on a committee of 30 West Virginia Social Studies educators that are writing the Next Generation Common Core Social Studies standards for the state of WV. I am under contract employment with the West Virginia Department of Education for this assignment.

  •  As of the 2011/2012 school year, I am teaching World History and Honors World History to high school freshmen, Current Events to sophomores through seniors, and an Intro to Psychology course to juniors and seniors at Buckhannon-Upshur High School in Upshur County, West Virginia USA.

Substitute Tutor

  • As a substitute tutor at the West Milford Elementary site for Project ISAAC I covered any tutoring or enrichment courses where I was needed on a regular basis. These courses included reading, math, science, Spanish, drama, and physical education.

Reading Tutor

  • As a reading tutor I helped third through fifth graders with fluency, and reading comprehension. In this position I regularly created and implemented daily lesson plans as part of my daily routine.

n     In pursuit of this Masters degree I have passed all required certification exams on the first attempt. Additionally, I have maintained a 3.92 GPA and been on either the Dean’s or President’s list every semester. My first placement for student teaching was Washington Irving Middle School in Clarksburg, WV under the guidance and direction of Mrs. Debbie Nutter. I taught Geography to four classes of 7th graders and Social Studies to one class of 6th grade students. Additionally, I have completed a second student teaching placement at Liberty High School in Clarksburg, WV and obtained my Master's degree from the University. At this placement I taught World History to 9th and 10th graders under the guidance and direction of Mr. Fred L. Ware III.

n   At present, I am certified through the State of West Virginia in the field of Social Studies. I am licensed to teach grades 5 through Adult. My current certification expires on June 30, 2013.
