Why therapy? Most of us have problems from time to time, whether they come from stressful work environments, family life or longer term problems dating back to previous parts of our lives. Sometimes these can take the form of recognised problems such as anxiety and depression.
People are quite varied in how they find ways through these difficulties but it is increasingly recognised that psychological help and therapy can often play a useful part in recovery (see the NICE – National Institute for Clinical Excellence website for some of the evidence and guidelines on what does and does not help). The first decision then is to decide whether counselling or psychological therapy may be of help to you. Then, an equally important decision involves finding a person who you think may be able to help. I hope that the information provided here may help you decide whether I am such a person.
