It happens almost every semester. After a midterm test and/or lab exams, some of you will ask for "extra credit project" or make up lab submissions or "can you give me a second chance?". Let me share my thoughts on this line of inquiry.
Extra project is a no no
The school policy prohibits it and I concur. If there is any extra credit to be earned, it should be offered to all students for fairness.
Lab submission
For the "1 minute" or "system freeze / reboot" late submissions, please refer to this page.
For lab or assignments make-up submissions, it is very important that you understand these topics even after the due date. Many of Frank's tests are derived from the assignments and overall grade percentage is heavily weighted on test versus regular homework submissions.
If you fall behind in class, make up for the past and prepare for the future is the best advise I can offer.
Can I pass the class after 0 points midterm?
I always believe that it is never too late to learn. Yes, we do have a grading formula outlined in green sheet and I'm obligated to follow it. However, if you can prove that you have drastically improved and make up all the necessary knowledge / skills required for the class, I will have no problem change the grade.
It will be up to you to prove yourself though. Please do not ask "how do I prove it?", "give me another test". In the past, some students have excelled in the final (one of the best scores) and show their competency in class, in lab, or in discussion groups.
