Hello, my name is Francisco Candido and I am currently a Junior in San Diego State University majoring in Aerospace engineering. I am currently participating in a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) at the University of Washington. My current research project involves using the Microsoft Kinect to track human fingers. I am also part of the NIH/NIGMS funded scholars program known as Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) at my home institution. Once the REU is over, I will be working under the mentorship of Dr.Satchi Venkataraman who focuses on the studies of structural optimization, composite materials,thin-walled structures, reliability, and biomimetic structural design .My interest for structural analysis developed in the classroom. I not only excel, but enjoyed the subject matter. My passion for learning and challenging myself, fuels my goal to one day belong to the group of individuals who strive to understand the intricate universe we live in.
Thank you for taking your time to view the details about my accomplishments and experiences as I part my way to graduate school. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
