Volunteer Response Team

Fownhope Volunteer Response Team is a group formed in response to a suggestion from the Herefordshire Joint Emergency Planning Unit. It is a group of volunteers drawn from the community, prepared to assist and help others to the best of their abilities in cases of emergencies or during hazardous conditions.  It does not take the place of the regular Emergency “Blue Light” Services and the volunteers are expressly asked not to put themselves at risk. They are acting as good neighbours and will give priority to those most in need of assistance.

The group is run by a steering group of seven, currently headed by Margret Rolls on behalf of Fownhope Parish Council.  The group is between 40/50 strong and is divided into a number of village areas with team leaders in each area to simplify communications within the group.

Although ‘emergencies’ come in a wide range of events and severity, the FVRT will be concentrating on those events that are more likely to occur annually:

Severe weather  (snow, ice, high winds)
    Flooding, incl. flash floods
    Loss of utilities

We are hoping that more of you are going to join us, so, if you are reasonably fit, healthy and willing to help others, please ring Margret Rolls on 860827.  You will receive a very warm welcome.
