Salmon in the Classroom

The Community High Ecology Club is participating in the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment’s (MDNRE) Salmon in the Classroom Project.  Funded by a grant from Trout Unlimited, we were able to purchase equipment and set up a tank capable of raising up to 200 Chinook Salmon.  The salmon start as eyed eggs, hatch and grow into fingerling sized to then be stocked in a local waterway.  This is the sixth year we will be participating in the program!

We stocked 67 salmon into the Lower Huron River during May of 2017!  What a success!
