Piano Recital by Viola Mokrosch

The Forum organized a very enjoyable piano recital by Viola Mokrosch on Feb 13th 2010 at the St Marks Resource Centre Auditorium.

Viola is a professor of music in the discipline of piano playing at the Institute of Music of the “University of Applied Sciences” in Osnabruch, Germany.

She studied in Hamburg and Stuggart and received her professional education with Prof Robert Henry and Prof Jurgen Unde.

She has given many concerts solo and chamber music in Europe and Rusia and Uk and China and USA and has performed at International Music Festivals.

Viola opened her recital with J S Bach’s Toccata in G followed by Mozart’s Variations KV 573.

Then she played Schubert’s Grazer Fantasia D605A and a Chopin Nocturne op 27 no 1 and the well known Etude op10 no 12 which ended the first half of the programme.

After the Intermission Ravel’s Jeux d’eau and the very enjoyable Giga by Jarnach and Variationen op8 by llse Fromm-Michaels ended the programme.

Viola delighted the audience with an encore.

Viola’s performance was sensitive & controlled with an impeccable technique and she held the audience spell bound.

The Forum was fortunate to have had Viola here and benefit as well with her workshop for teachers on the 7th Feb where she talked about teaching beginners and the different styles of music which has been reported elsewhere in the newsletter.
