Today was the big presentation day. We travelled to Philadelphia in the morning. It was also my dad's birthday. He turned 72. Or 73 in "Taiwanese years" (it counts by what year you're in--so when you're born you're in your first year). Happy Birthday, dad! I'm going to post an additional photo of our evening festivities in Queens, but I'm leaving this photo from just outside the law firm as the main one because to me it really represents by day—the whole day has been, in some fashion or other, in transit, waiting, nervous about, leading up to or away from, the pitch. And somewhere in there, the presentation itself went really well! (more shortly) OK, I'm back in Manhattan. And I have been struck by a wave of exhaustion that threatens to sweep me downriver, before I have a chance to right my footing or, in a world with less flowery metaphors, properly put my computer to sleep. "Let me explain. No, there is too much. Let me sum up." —Princess Bride So suffice it to say that I left at 8 this morning to meet Jonas and Paul at 8:30 for a 9:00 train to Philly where we arrived at Bill's film at 10:30 and rehearsed the presentation with Kevin until 1:30, finally gave the presentation at 2, were done 3:30, headed back on a local train to Union Hall, waited and had drinks at the train station bar until our train at 5:30 and got into Manhattan at 6:40 for a jump on the E train to Queens, and said birthday dinner, American Idol and now a haiku: Oh run-on sentence! A subtext of laziness brought to bad grammar.

Tamara's been here - or maybe one of her elves. Knox County Law Director Bill Lockett admitted illegally diverting funds from the law firm he shared with his partners before being elected. He refused to step down from his office until he was eventually disciplined by the Tennessee State Bar.
