Forth Valley Welcome are partnering with Art Collection of Stirling University over the next year to present aspects of the refugee experience. The first of these is a free lecture by  Alison Phipps. UNESCO Chair: Refugee Integration through Languages and the Arts, University of Glasgow, with Gameli Tordzro, Naa Densua Tordzro, Tawona Sitholé, the Noyam Institute for African Dance and the Haa Orchestra.

It would be great if this were well supported by FVW people. To attend, you need to register by clicking this link

Who are Forth Valley Welcome?
Originally Stirling Citizens for Sanctuary, we are a group formed in June 2015, concerned about the plight of vulnerable refugees in Syria.  'Vulnerable Refugees' are identified by the United Nations refugee agency (UNHCR) and should not be confused with the complex, on-going migration crisis in Calais or other parts of Europe. (More info about UNHCR activities hereSee also note below about other groups.)  The UK Government had a scheme, we discovered, for resettling these Vulnerable Syrian Refugees in any parts of the Uk that would welcome them. We thought the Forth Valley would. You can follow the rest of the story on the 3 minute video below.....

or this BBC broadcast from November 2016

WIDER ISSUES
Forth Valley Welcome are focussed on UNHCR-identified 'vulnerable refugees', the UK's 'Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme' and the role of Forth Valley Councils and residents. There are, however, other major areas of concern which individuals can address in other ways:
