The Industrial Accidents Division is established by state law to monitor and administer the workers' compensation program for the state of Utah. The division monitors all businesses in the state to ensure that they are complying with the state requirement that they provide workers' compensation insurance for their employees. The division investigates all businesses that do not have workers' compensation insurance. The division also assists injured workers' in resolving any disputes that they may have regarding their workers' compensation benefits with their employer's insurance carrier. The division provides information, dispute resolution and mediation to try and resolve workers' compensation disputes and return the injured worker as quickly as possible back to the workplace. The division also sets the fees for medical providers to ensure quality access to medical care and publishes rules as guidance in fair claims handling practices for insurance carriers
