"To boldly go where no man has gone before." -- Star Trek

I started doing research when I was a junior in college. Most of my projects are initialized by my own curiosity. Here is a naive essay I wrote for applying graduate school. It is hard for me use one word to describe my research-I also read papers in neuroscience and molecular biology. The term Computer Engineering, integrating EE and CS, seems to best.

My current research covers the following topics.
  1. Artificial intelligence
  2. Medical signal/image processing and instrumentation
    1. MindBoggle: automated shape analysis and labeling of human brain anatomy in MRI data (SfN 2011 poster, HBM 2011, EMBC 2012, Neuroinformatics 2012, PLOS Comp Biol 2017)
    2. Epilepsy diagnosis using interictal EEG (MIT Technology Review 2010, IEEE Trans. Neural Syst. Rehabil. Eng. 2016)
