General Information
Foothill College Sublets/Apartments is a private Facebook group designed to give Foothill students a safe and online community to look for housing. We primarily serve students from Foothill College but welcome students from nearby colleges and universities and recent graduates looking for housing in Silicon Valley. Our page offers searching for roommates, subletting and renting/leasing.
Have questions concerning the group or housing?
We welcome questions from members on the group and housing. Direct the questions to Timothy Ng (Administrator) if you have a question. Note that we are all busy students and please be patient if response time is slow and limited.

Safety Tips
If an ad looks too perfect, proceed cautiously; it may be a scam!
Pick roommates who can provide proof they are students
Never wire or otherwise send money to people you only know online. Anyone who asks you for money before you sign any lease or move in is most likely a scammer
Do not give anyone money until you have met them in person and SIGNED the contract with them
Do not give a deposit without asking your landlord or roommate to sign a paper acknowledging they have received the money
Do not wire money
Do not trust people who spam housing links in comments (legitimacy of these websites are debatable, proceed at your own risk)
Common Terms to know
Tenant: A person who lives in a property rented from a landlord. There are main tenants and there are subtenants.
Lease: A contract by which one party gives property to another for a specified time, usually in return for rent.
Sublet: To lease a property to another tenant, who would become a main tenant’s subtenant.
Deposit: A sum of money given to the landlord/main tenant to keep as a safety net in leases. Usually paid before moving in or as part of the first month’s rent. Kept by the landlord/main tenant if tenant moves out before the lease finishes, otherwise is returned to the tenant upon moving out once the lease is over.
Furnished: Already has furniture in it, such as a bed, desk, chair, etc. Ask for specifics if photos are not included.
Utilities: Useful features that are included in a home. Examples: water, sewer, garbage, electricity, gas, phone, cable, and internet. Not all features are always included, some you have to pay for, some are already paid for by the landlord.
