March 14 Short form educational video in online context workshop: Nolte 125 9am-12pm

Summary of the Video Workshop on March 14 2014

(Note: Please also refer to the diagram that Valentine made as everyone was talking.)

We began by introducing ourselves by going around and talking about the work we do (yellow.) Then Valentine presented the examples that had been generated before the workshop of short form educational video on the internet (blue.) There was emphasis with each example not only on the technique of the videos (including narration, use of music/sound clips, tone, lighting, perspectives represented etc) but also the architecture of its presentation on the web (In what ways was it interactive? Did it provide a way for other voices to be included or expanded? Was there any interpretation provided or a way to provide it as a viewer? Was it easy to use and easy to navigate?) With each example we went around in the circle and each person gave their reactions to the example. After Valentine presented the examples, workshop participants began rapidly generating other examples and ideas of web architectures, projects that were similar to the theoretical project we are envisioning and other short form educational videos that they liked (green.) As the meeting was wrapping up we discussed goals for future workshops on this topic (pink.)
