Volunteer Leadership Positions for High School Students

Contact: Julie Rosenthal –

Food on the 15th is starting it's 9th year, and we are continuing to expand. This is an excellent opportunity for high school students to take on a volunteer or leadership role with this 100% volunteer organization that operates on $0 overhead. We are truly making a difference in our community, and to date have delivered over 18,000 free bags of groceries and toiletries.

Leadership Roles Available

Food on the 15th River Hill 4th of July Parade Coordinator- Register to have a float in the parade, coordinate volunteers to participate, plan float design and make it happen.  May need an adult partner.

Food on the 15th Implementer/Coordinator for your High School - Food on the 15th is looking to expand to all Howard County High Schools.  In addition to helping others who are less fortunate in our community, you will be implementing a brand new program at your high school that will (hopefully) continue to be in existence after you graduate.
Food Pantry Coordinator - This is perfect for someone who is new to the area and need 75 community service hours.  You would have a food pantry in your basement or a temperature controlled room in your home.  You would be responsible for sorting foods as they come in and bagging them for delivery.
Year Round Produce Coordinator– This position involves getting people to donate fresh produce that is purchased from Costco, BJ's, etc. (large quantities) for the distribution to residents at Morningside Park Apartments in Jessup.

Fundraising Coordinator– Arranges for easy “no brainer” fundraisers at local stores and restaurants. A no brainer fundraiser is where Food on the 15th advertises an event, people attend and Food on the 15th receives a percentage of the sales. This position will market the events and sees them through to completion. Some ideas are Chick-fil-a, McDonald's, Fat Burger, Ledo's, Pizza Hut, etc. Using your imagination, the possibilities are endless!

Sports Coordinator– Works with your school to collect non perishable food donations at all sporting events throughout the year.
Summer Produce Coordinator - Responsible for picking up produce from a CSA once a week from May - November and delivering to a low income senior citizen building in Howard County.

We are open to any and all new ideas, so if you've thought of something not listed here that you'd like to do, just contact Julie Rosenthal at 410-608-1913 or
