Recent and current activity


From 1st June 2014 to 1st September 2015 on sabbatical leave abroad, fully dedicated to research:

June and July 2014 in Canada, working with Giorgio Ranalli at the Carleton University, Ottawa, and field work in the Canadian Rockies, along the transects Calgary-Vancouver-Calgary south and North.

1st September 2014 to 15th February 2015 in Germany, learning Geodynamic Modelling with Boris Kaus at the University of Mainz.

15th February to 15th April in India, working with Santanu Bose (a former Post-Doc of mine in Lisbon, now at University of Kolkata) and Nibir Mandal (University of Jadavpur), including field work in Rajasthan and the NW Himalaya.

23rd April to 23rd June in Germany, back to Mainz to work with Boris Kaus.

29th June to 3rd August in the Azores for fieldwork with Ana Costa and Anthony Hildenbrand.


Back from sabbatical leave, back to teaching, started a new Theoretical and Practical course on Tectonics as of 14th September 2015.

January 2016 - 1 week visit to Mainz to work with Boris Kaus and Ana Costa on numerical modelling for the new MEGAHards2 project

January 2016 - 1 week visit to Paris to work for the new MEGAHards2 project with Anthony Hildenbrand from Paris-Saclay, Christian Hübscher + Kataryna from Hamburg, Anne Mangeney + Nicole Métrich + Vittorio Zanon from IPGP, and Philippe Gondret from FAST - Paris-Saclay.

June 22nd to July 31st, 2016 - field work campaign in the Azores with Anthony Hildenbrand.

August 27th to September 16th - field work campaign in Cape Verde.

November 2nd to 15th - visit Roma Tre, Paris-Orsay and IPGP for meetings related to MEGAHazards2.
