Philippe is one of the leading exponents of traditional music on a Boehm system flute.
In 2008 Philippe graduated from the University of Limerick with an MA - First Class Honours in Irish Traditional Music Performance. Since then he has toured all over Europe & America playing guitar & flute with the David Munnelly Band, toured Australia with his Celtic Jazz-Funk group All Jigged Out, & covered the british isles with Folk Hip-Hop rising stars Dizraeli & The Small Gods (on guitar, flute, keys and gaita!). Three-time runner up in the BBC Young Folk Awards and highly commended at the Danny Kyle Stage, Philippe has also appeared on BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 2, BBC 6 Music, Classic FM, BBC Scotland, Discovery Channel, MTV, E4, Channel 4, BBC One, BBC Two, ITV & TG4.

As well as Celtic music Philippe has a great love of Flamenco, Jazz and Arabic Music. He is a member of Iraqi oud player Attab Haddad’s band (appeared at London Jazz Festival 2011&2012, and The Purcell Room), and bass virtuoso Franc O’Shea’s Jazz-Fusion group Alkimia.
He began his studies with Liz Goodwin - founder of Flutewise - at the age of 11. Since then he has studied flute with Niall Keegan, Sarah Allen, Brian Finnegan, composition with Param Vir, and improvisation with Gareth Lockrane, Lawrence Jones and Tom Phelan.
He has also performed with Amy Dickson & The London Chamber Orchestra (Classic Brits), Pixie Lott & The Proclaimers (National Television Awards) The Irish Folk Ballet Co. (Tribute to Riverdance), McDermotts Two Hours, Flook!(Guest), Shakira (MTV 5-Star), Emma Sweeney, Lulo Reinhardt, Lee Westwood, the Mike McGoldrick Trio (Guest), Alkimia, Mooose, Richard Durrant, Nick Pynn, Nick Dick & Tom, Sam Pirt, Legacy and many others...
In 2005 Philippe played multiple flutes on the sold-out UK tour of "Faust", a new soundtrack composed by microtonal hammered dulcimer virtuoso Geoff Smith to the 1926 silent film, given a 5 star review by ‘The Scotsman’.

Carrie Hensel - Course Director
Carrie Hensel is the Musical Director of the Hampshire Flute Choir, whom she has been conducting since 2004. The group are regularly invited to play at the National Festival of Music for Youth and Carrie has taken them on tour to places such as Estonia and Germany, and most recently to perform at the BFS convention in Warwick. Currently, Carrie teaches at Hampshire Collegiate School, flute scholars for the Hampshire Music Service and leads the flute sectionals for the Hampshire County Youth Orchestra and Hampshire County Youth Wind Band, as well as running a busy private teaching practice and performing regularly with various ensembles. Recent pupil achievements have included places in NYO, successful music college auditions, including scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music, and Portsmouth Music Festival Concerto and Recital Prize winners, Newbury Young Musician of the Year and Beaulieu Music Award prize winners.
Carrie enjoys organising Hampshire Flute Days with world-renowned artists such as Peter Verhoyen (2017), Sarah Newbold (2016), Anna Noakes/INCA (2015), Niall O'Riordan (2014), Wil Offermans (2014), Kate Hill (2012), Ian Clarke (2010), Clare Southworth (2006). Carrie also teaches and conducts the flute choir at the Oxford Flute Summer School
