- Create a Google Doc with your own Reading Script to the "Fluency" (or the name you chose) folder. You can add as many as you like.
- Have students login to their own Google account in Fluency+, choose a script, then read and record the scripts.
- After students submit their oral reading you will see the recordings appear in the Fluency folder.
- Words per minute and the passage read will be displayed in the title. You can also find this information in the files details.
Troubleshooting
- Error Message "Multiple Fluency Folders Found!" You will need to change the name of the Google Drive folder used by Fluency+. When setting up your Google Drive Folder, instead of creating a folder called "Fluency" name it something different, such as "Smith Fluency" Then on each iPad with Fluency+ go to iPad's settings app. Scroll down to FluencyPlus. Change the "Fluency Drive Folder Name:" to the new name you gave your folder. Then open Fluency+ again and swipe down and the files should show up now.
- My Students do not have Google App accounts.
- The teacher can use their own account on the iPads.
- Documents not showing up on students iPads.
- Make sure teacher Google Drive "Fluency" folder is shared with student.
- If someone else is sharing a folder named "Fluency" with your student, this can cause problems. "This may be someone in your district sharing it publicly"
- You can share a folder with a different name with your students. On the student's iPad in settings app change the "Fluency Drive Folder Name" from "Fluency" to the name of your new shared folder.
- If a folder named "Fluency" is in the students Drive trash this can cause problems. Empty the Google Drive trash.
- PDF documents require additional sign in. - PDF documents must be shared publicly. In the teacher Google Drive select sharing for the file and set it to "Anyone with link can view".
- New paragraphs and indentions not showing up. -
- Use a double space in the Google Doc and create indentions using 5 spaces with the space bar.
- Files still showing up in Fluency+ after removing them from Fluency Folder on drive. On Google drive you must also delete them from the Google Drive "Trash" folder (Thanks for the catch Barb).
