AES Engineering Solutions Essay Scholarship
Amount of award: $500.00

AES Engineering is pleased to be able to continue offering scholarships to motivated students to help in the furthering of their education.
Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluated the essays that are submitted.  Scholarships are intended for our future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. This award is available to high school seniors and all students attending a post secondary educational facility.
You are not required to be taking Engineering courses to be eligible.
How to Apply: Students must submit an essay of no more than 1000 words in answer to the following question:
What impact will the Natural Disasters of 2010 have on the global economy? How should these events affect future political, business and personal decisions?

 Anoka County Kennel club Members Scholarhsip Program
Amount of award: $750
Application Deadline: May 1, 2012
The Anoka Kennel Club offers a scholarship available for post-secondary edcuation for the 2012 school year.  Any two-year or four-year college, vo-tech school or trade school is acceptable for post-secondary education in receiving the scholarship.  The limitiations on the field of study must be animal related field.  Additional instructions and an application can be found below.
Anoka Hennepin Credit Union Scholarship
Amount of award: $500 (8 scholarships)
Application Deadline: March 30, 2013
Anoka Hennepin Credit Union is offering eight $500 scholarship to high school seniors who plan to attend a public or private university or a two year technical school or community scholarship.  Applicant must be a primary member of AHCU.

Anoka-Ramsey Community College
Amount of awards range from $250-$3,000

The Anoka-Ramsey Community College and its two foundations award numerous scholarships to graduating seniors from area high schools who plan to attend wither its Cambridge or Coon Rapids Capuses.  The scholarships range from $250 to $3,000 and are offered for academics, activities, leadership, writing /communication skills, or for volunteer service, etc.

    Better Business Bureau Start With Trust Scholarship

    The Better Business Bureau of Minnesota & North Dakota offers scholarship opportunities that focuses more on a student’s ethical choices than grades. The Student of Integrity Scholarship is open to Minnesota and North Dakota students from accredited high schools who will be seniors in the 2012-2013 school year.
    Students are asked to read and consider the 20 principles found on the document entitled UncommonSense (provided with application) and select one or more of the principles and write an essay that gives a specific, personal example of how s/he was challenged or struggled through a difficult situation and how s/he overcame the situation by the application of high character and personal ethics. The essay must be 1,000 words or less, and be accompanied by the scholarship entry form, one letter of recommendation, a copy of high school transcripts, a list of extracurricular activities and post-secondary plans.

    Curtis L. Carlson Balanced Man Scholarship 

    College male freshman at the University of Minnesota may apply for the Curtis L. Carlson Balance Man Scholarship. The Fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon, believes that learning how to balance roles and activities in college is one of the most important life skills one can learn.  They believe that recognizing students who exhibit balance and all-around excellence is one way to promote this important idea. Six Scholarships will be awarded.

     Davidson Fellows Scholarships

    The Davidson Fellows Scholaship awards $50,000, $25,000 and $10,000.  To be eligible for the Davidson Fellows scholship, an applicant must: 1. Be 18 or younger as of October 2. Be a U.S. citizen resitding in the United States, or a permanent resident of the United States residing in the Unitied States or be stationed overseas to active U.S. military duty.

    Healthy Lifestyles Scholarship
    Amount of Award: $5,000

    The Healthy Lifestyles Scholarship is open to currently enrolled high school seniors or first-year college students. To be eligible for this award, you must be a U.S. citizen, be under 25 years of age and answer both of the following two essay questions: in under 1000 words, "Why is a healthy lifestyle important in school?" and in under 500 words, describe your career plans, goals and personal ambitions.     Hibbing Community College Foundation is accepting scholarhsip applications. Criteria: minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale and be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits at HCC for Fall 2013.  Past academic excellence and promis of future performance determine the recipients.

    Imagine America Scholarship
    Amount of award: $1,000
    This scholarship is available to students who plan to attend a technical, vocational or career education school after graduating high school.  The scholarship is for $1,000 toward career education at participating colleges.  For more information click on the Imagine America document below.
     ITT Technical Institute
    Amount of award:$9,000
    ITT Technical Institute in Eden Prairiie/Woodbury is pleased to announce the ITT Tech FIRST Robotics Scholarship.  The scholarship amount is $9,000 per year for tow years to be used at the Eden Prairie or Woodbury ITT locations.  Scholarship applications are accepted through April 13, 2012.  Contact Joy Lewis at or 952-914-5300 with any questions.

    James J. Wychor Scholarship
    Amount of Award: $1,500 (up to 10 scholarships)
    The Minnesota Broadcasters Association (MBA) awards the James J. Wychor Scholarship to Minnesota residents who meet the criteria listed below in the MBA Scholarship Application.  The Association will awared up to 10-$1500 scholarships to qualified candidates for the 2012-13 school year. 
    One scholarship will be reserved for a student with a career interest in broadcast/electronic media technoloty.  The applicant must be taking courses in the following areas:  computer science/technology, electrical engineering, electonics technology or closely related fields.     Kohls Cares Scholarship Program
    Application deadline: March 15, 2012
    Every year, Kohl's recognizes and rewards young volunteers (ages 6-18) across the country for their amazing contributions to their communities. This year we are recognizing more than 2,100 kids with more than $415,000 in scholarships and prizes.

    Eligibility: To be eligible, the student must meet the following criteria:

    • Must be between the ages of 6 and 18 and not yet a high school graduate.
    • Actions must be described in detail and should document efforts above and beyond what is expected of a child his or her age.
    • Volunteer efforts must have occured in the last year.
    • Winners are chosen based on the project, benefits and outcome.
    Men of Principle Scholarship - Beta Theta Pi
    Amount of award: $1,000 (1) / $500 (2)
    Application deadline: April 11, 2012
    The Beta Pi Chapter of Beta Theta Pi will be awarding (1) $1,000 and (2)$500 scholarships to incoming freshman at the University of Minnesota.  The scholarship is intended to reward men who demonstrate a strong devotion to academic success and a commitment to making the University and community better.  Equally, they are seeking men who wish to develop skills that will make them successful not only at the "U", but also in life.

    Minnesota Benefit Association
    The 2013 Minnesota Benefit Association offers financial assistance for post-secondary education and is open to 2013 high school graduates or any currently enrolled post-secondary student.   Must be a public or school district employee or elected official in Minnesota, or the child of a public or school district employee or elected official in Minnesota.  Scholarships are awarded up to $1,000 per award.  Instructions and applications are availiable for download directly from the MBA website:  or the link below.

    Minnesota Chapter 18 CenturyLink Pioneers
    Amount of award: $1,000 (3 scholarships)
    CenturyLink Pioneers have available three (3) $1,000 scholarships to help encourage graduating High School Seniors to seek education beyond the High School Level.  Students must be acceptepted at an accredit College, University or Technical Institution offering a standard degree or certificate of no less than two (2) years.    Applications and additional requirements are available below under: Minnesota Chapter 18 CenturyLink Pioneers. 
    Applications must be post marked by no later than May 5, 2012.
    Minnesota School Nutrition Association
    Amount of award: $400
    The Minnesota School Nutrition Association East Central Chapter #25 is pleased to award a scholarship to a qualified student or gradaute from an East Central #25 school which includes students from Forest Lake Area High School.  Two scholarships, in the amount of $400 each, will be available to students attenidng a college or vocational program of 12 months or more.  The scholarships will be issued with documentation indicating successful completion of the first semester.   Applicants going into or attending a college or vocational prgram that is food related will be given first consideration in the awarding of the scholarhsip.

    Minnesota Athletes in Sports Medicine
    Amount of award: $2,500
    Application deadline: May 1, 2012

    Sports and Orthopaedic Specialists, the Women’s Orthopaedic Center, and Abbott Northwestern Hospital are proud to present the 5th annual Minnesota Athletes in Sports Medicine Scholarship. Two $2,500.00 scholarships are available and will be awarded to one male and one female student athlete who intend to pursue a professional career in sports medicine. Qualified candidates should demonstrate leadership, be actively involved in their community and interscholastic sports and achieve academic success.

    As healthcare providers and professionals, we are committed to delivering unsurpassed patient care, providing patient education, and are actively engaged in research to benefit the public and the health care community. The recipients of these scholarships should demonstrate similar qualities and interests which will allow them to be successful in the pursuit of a career in sports medicine.

    Minnesota Vikings - University of North Dakota
    Amount of award: $10,000
    Application deadline: December 15, 2012
     The Minnesota Vikings will award a $10,000.00 "Vikings + UND Scholarship" to
    one deserving student interested in pursuing a bachelor's degree at UND.

    The scholarship is available for an incoming freshman in 2013.  The
    recipient will be selected from applicants based on their high school GPA
    and standardized test scores, as well as a 1,000-word personal statement
    highlighting their career goals, achievements, overcoming adversity and what
    the opportunity to study at UND would mean to their future. Applications
    will be accepted at from Aug. 1 through Dec. 15. The
    scholarship recipient and family will be in attendance for the December 30, 2012,
    Vikings vs. Packers game. The scholarship will be awarded during pre-game
    activities at Mall of America Field.

    The Northwest Airlines Pilots' Wives Club
    Amount of award: $1,800

         Two $1,800 scholarships will be awarded that allow high school seniors and college freshman,
            sophomores and juniors to explore the field of cardiovascular research by working in a Minnesota
            research lab during the summer months.

    Odenza Marketing Award
    Amount of award: $500
    Application deadline: March 30, 2012
    To be considered eligible for the Odenza Marketing Scholarship you must:
    1. Be between the ages of 16 and 25 on March 30, 2012

    Amount of award: $1,000
    Application deadline: March 1, 2012
    The Phi Delta Kappa (PDK) Educational Foundation annually awards scholarships to aspiring educators.  The State of Minnesota Chapter 1612 will be offering one $1,000 Prospective Scholarship to a high school senior who intends to attend college and major in education and whose application is submitted to the local chapter for consideration.   Once completed, the application must be received by March 1, 2012 or electronically to Florence Monsour by 10 pm on March 1, 2012.  the packet should be returned to the attention of:

    Reuben Youngerberg Memorial Biodiesel Scholarship
    Amount of award: $500 - $1,600
    Application deadline: March 30, 2012

    The American Lung Association in Minnesota and the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council are inviting any interested high school seniors to apply for the Reuben Youngerberg Memorial Biodiesel Essay Scholarship (formerly the Clean Air Choice Scholarship). The first place award is $1,600. 

    The rules are fairly simple: current high school seniors in the state of Minnesota with plans to attend postsecondary education are eligible to submit a brief (1,000 words or less) essay on the topic of biodiesel.  Two scholarships will be awarded.  The first place essay writer will receive a $1,600 scholarship; the second place essay writer will receive a $500 scholarship.  All essays and application materials must be submitted to the American Lung Association in Minnesota by 4:30pm on Friday, March 30, 2012.     The application form and scholarship rules for the scholarship can be accessed online at

    SFM Foundation
    Amount of award: up to $5,000 (renewable)
    Application deadline: March 31, 2012
    Mission statement: SFM Foundation is dedicated to easing the burdens on families affected by workplace accidents. To achieve this, the Foundation provides post-secondary education scholarships to children of parents fatally or seriously injured on the job.

    Scholarships are available to qualifying students whose parents have been disabled or fatally injured in the course of working for Minnesota or Wisconsin employers.Each scholarship recipient is eligible for up to $5,000 per year and can receive scholarships annually through graduation from a two- to four-year college, university or vocational school.

    Society of Women Engineers Freshman Scholarship Program
    Amount of award: $1,000-$5,000 (25 scholarships awarded)
    Application deadline: May 15, 2012

    Twin Cities in Motion (TCM) College Scholarship
    Amount of award: $5,000
    Application deadline: March 1, 2012
    Twin Cities in Motion (TCM) is a non profit organization whose mission is to provide community supported, nationally recognized, high quality running events which attract athletes of all ages and abilities and promote health and fitness.  The organizaiton has many different facets in order to achieve this mission.  One of those is the College Scholarship Program.  The scholarhsip is open to all graduating high school students who: have participated in cross-country or track (running event) - have a 3.0 or higher GPA - live or attend school in the 11 county metro area.

    United Way: Juliet Evans Nelson Scholarship for Outstanding Youth Volunteerism
    Amount of award: $2,500
    Application deadline: April 20, 2012
    Juliet Evans Nelson was a young person who worked to make her community a better place by volunteering.  This scholarship is given annually to a young person who is making a politive impact through volunteerism.  An application along with additional information and requirements can be found at the link below.     University of Minnesota Men of Principle Scholarship
    Seniors who plan to attend the University of Minnesota can apply for the Beta Theta Pi Men of Principle Scholarship.  Scholarships are intended to reward men who exemplify values congruent with the purpose of Beta Theta Pi, membership in the organization is not offered or required as part of this scholarhip.  Rather, applicants are affirming their desire to achieve excellence.  The scholarship is intended to reward men who demonstrate a strong devotion to academic success and a commitment to making our University and community better.  Student must have a grade point average of 3.0 or greater to apply.

    University of Minnesota Sigma Nu Fraternity Scholarship
    For the 2011-2012 school year, the Sigma Nu Educational Foundation will be awarding $2,000 in total scholarship grants to new incoming male students at the University of Minnesota, Twin cities Campus.

    The Will to Win Scholarship Program will award a total of $50,000 in college scholarships.

    Scholarships of $5,000 will be awarded to two deserving high school seniors with asthma in each
