Reading and Writing about History 

July 9 - 12, Norwich, VT       

Join Flow of History and Vermont author Natalie Kinsey-Warnock for four days of historical investigations and writing workshops exploring how to help kids with narrative writing. The institute will follow a C3 Inquiry Framework with workshops on developing historical questions, making thinking visible, investigating primary sources, and sharing new understandings through story. 

This is a Commuter institute held in Norwich, Vermont.

  • Using the Census 
  • Overview of C3 Inquiry

Wednesday, July 10: Then and Now 


    Activities:
  • Use historical materials to compare one-room schools to schools today
  • Re-enact a One-Room Schoolhouse Lesson
  • School District Field Study
  • Writer's Workshop: Developing Descriptive Settings 

   

 
Thursday, July 11: Connecting to Community  

    Activities:
  • Historical Research at your town office and historical society
