Swimming, Beach Combing, and Sun Bathing:     At Delray Beach, beach-goers have two miles of public beach-front.  One of the two miles is supervised daily by lifeguards.  The parking has meters so bring plenty of quarters.

Boating & Jet Ski Rental:  Your best bet is to go to the Two George's Marina.  This is also called the Ocean Avenue boat docks.  Their web address is www.twogeorgesmarina.com.  When you visit the marina, if you can not find a parking spot, look in the garage.  There is not a charge for parking and there are usually open spaces.

Fishing:  If you want to fish you may need a license.  Go to the  Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission site to see if you need one.  Their web address is www.myfwc.com and check the rules, as they change periodically.  If you decide you do need a license, you can get them on line.  Wal-Mart (listed below under shoppiing) sells them too.  They also have frozen bait and tackle.   We have three fishing poles you are welcomed to use.  They are in the garden bathroom.

Deep Sea Fishing:  For a really fun time with the entire family try deep sea fishing on the Sea Mist III.  You can catch the boat just two miles from the house at the Two George's Marina.  They provide all you need for fishing.  Check out their web site for details at seamist3.com.  Make sure you bring sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, and a cooler of drinks (there is a cooler in our pantry).  Wear sneakers or rubber sole shoes.  When you visit the marina, if you can not find a parking spot, look in the garage.  There is not a charge and there are usually open spaces.  You can also take a private charter fishing.  Details for that can be found at www.twogeorgesmarina.com.  Personally, I like the group fishing on the Sea Mist III.  I have done both and the private boats are much smaller and they are really serious about fishing.  The Sea Mist was more fun and really good for kids.

Snorkeling/Diving:  I have not used any of the dive shops, but there are some listed on the Two George's web site at www.twogeorgesmarina.com.  I know there is a popular wreck off Delray Beach that divers like to visit and Peanut Island and Lake Worth Beach are popular for snorkeling.

Shopping: The Boynton Beach Mall is 4.6 miles from the house.  You can find more information about it at www.boyntonbeachmall.com

The Mall at Wellington Green is a nicer mall than the Boynton Beach Mall, but it is not nearly as close.  It is about 20 miles and about 35 minutes if you don't hit traffic.  You can find more informations about it at

Wal-Mart is located at 3625 S. Federal Highway, Boynton Beach, FL  33483.  They are open 24 hours and only 5 minutes from the house.  Exit Old Dixie, turn right (south) on US 1 aka Federal Highway and go just a few miles to Gulfstream Blvd.  It is on the north, west corner, or your right.  http://www.walmart.com  For store locator use zip code 33483.

Publix Supermarket is THE grocery store of South Florida.  The one near the cottage is being rebuilt and opens August 2, 2012.  Until then you can use the one located 555 NE 5th Ave., Delray 33483 (561) 272-9460.

Museums:  The most popular is probably the Henry Flagler Museum in Palm Beach.  www.flaglermuseum.us

The Old School Square is nearby and offers various, interesting exhibits.   www.oldschool.org

Rand McNally:  Best of the Road travel video of Delray Beach.
