This year each FLL Team must complete a research project to choose a food, find possible spoiling or contamination problems, invent a solution, and share the team's results.
Our team has chosen Milk as the food to research.
We are studying how milk is produced and transported.
Our team used two NXTs and a LEGO Temperature Sensor to build an automatic milk temerature monitor.
The sensor module fits inside a milk jug so it can ride in a crate with actual milk being transported.
The NXT has a Bluetooth radio connection to another NXT that shows and records if the milk is at a safe temperature (GREEN for under 40 degrees), getting too warm (YELLOW for 41 to 44 degrees), or is at an unsafe temperature (RED for over 45 degrees). It can also sound an alarm.
