Action figures

Jason Lenzi with Bif Bang Pow! e-mailed me that his company has been releasing cool Flash Gordon action figures based on the movie! You can learn about the figures at his site. And you can buy them at Entertainment Earth.

DVD

Thanks to the many, many people who e-mailed me about the Flash Gordon: Saviour of the Universe Edition DVD for Region 1! Sadly, it doesn't have all the features of the Region 2 Silver Anniversary Edition (available from retailers like Amazon.co.uk) like two commentaries with director Mike Hodges and actor Brian Blessed. But for those who don't have Flash Gordon on DVD, this new disc looks like a great one. I'm sure it will be a lot better than the original DVD I bought in 1998 that's now out of print.

2008 update: My wife got me a copy for my birthday and I am very impressed. The quality is much higher than my old DVD and the extras are very cool, especially the old serials and Alex Ross' interview. Man, he's really into Flash Gordon

Here's a link to a review of the DVD set.

DVD commentary

Liz Martin with Big Kev's Geek Stuff wrote me over a year ago that Sam Jones and Melody Anderson have recorded a commentary track for the Flash Gordon DVD! Here's her news release:

On November 17, 2007, Sam Jones and Melody Anderson recorded a downloadable commentary track for Flash Gordon with Bob Lindenmayer and Big Kev's Geek Stuff, a podcast and occasional XM Radio feature starring "The Opie and Anthony Show's" resident geek, Big Kev. In addition to the downloadable track, there is also a limited run of DVDs available which contain the commentary track, a filming of the taping of the track, a filming of Melody Anderson and Sam Jones on Big Kev's Geek Stuff, live on XM radio, and still photos featuring Melody and Sam posing with props from the show. Also, the cover of the disc is an exclusive Alex Ross original, only available on this disc, which is also signed by both Sam Jones and Melody Anderson. The commentary track and limited edition DVD are available for purchase at Bigkevsgeekstuff.com.

Flash Gordon T-shirt

Sad news, Flash Gordon fans! American Ringer no longer sells the Flash Gordon T-shirt. Googling turns up sites like this one that sell similar shirts, but not replicas from the movie. Bummer.

The soundtrack

When I first created this page, Internet retail hadn't caught on. So just check your favorite Web retailer, I'm sure they have copies of the soundtrack.
