• He received the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Oviedo, Spain, in 1998. He became a Lecturer in electronics with the University of Oviedo in 1999. Since 2016 he is accredited as Full Professor.
  • He has participated in numerous R&D projects as Principal Investigator.
  • He is the author or coauthor of about 30 JCR articles and over 120 communications. He has participated as coauthor in 8 books and coinventor of 6 patents.
  • He is the 2018 IEEE IMS Spanish Chapter Chair. IEEE Senior Member since December 2012.
  • He is an Evaluator of the Spanish National Agency for Assessment and Forecasting (ANEP) and the Spanish Association for Standardisation and Certification (AENOR).
  • He participates as a reviewer of several journals (IEEE Sensors Journal, IEEE TIM, Measurement, Review of Scientific Instruments, etc.) and conferences (IEEE I2MTC, IEEE Sensors, IMEKO, etc.).
  • During his career he has been awarded several times including the Award for Best Innovative Project granted by the Economic Development Agency of the Principality of Asturias (IDEPA) (2014) for the project: "Biosensor for real-time detection of Escherichia coli in drinking water". 
  • He was the advisor to the Best Project in ICT Accessibility and Personal Autonomy to Mr Alberto López Martínez from the Official College and Spanish Association of Telecommunication Engineers of Madrid (2013).
