Famous Montessori Alumni

It is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education. -  Albert Einstein

Although we are not fans of the local montessori school on Hilton Head which has been plagued by mismanagement issues for years, we are still big supporters of the method.

If you are looking for a local option for Montessori you might contact May River Montessori in Bluffton. http://www.mayrivermontessori.com/

A newspaper recently contacted a Montessori school and asked, “Do you have any geniuses at your school? We’re doing an article on geniuses.”

The Head replied, “Every one of our students is a genius. You need to come and see for yourself.”

The result was a major article that highlighted some interesting Montessori facts:

  • The youngest Noble Peace Prize nominee is a Montessori graduate
  • The youngest Rhoades Scholar is a Montessori graduate
  • The youngest artist to exhibit at the United Nations is a Montessori graduate.

And of course the founders of Google and Amazon.com are Montessori graduates.

The newspaper recognized that the lessons learned in Montessori can help your child become successful at whatever she or he wants to do in life. Maybe all Montessori children are not geniuses, but YOU - the parent are, for selecting Montessori for your child.

Montessori Alumni Quotes:

"The Montessori method—learning by doing— once again became my stock in trade..."  from Personal History by Katharine Graham

"Montessori taught me the joy of discovery...It showed you can become interested in pretty complex theories, like Pythagorean theory, say, by playing with blocks. It's all about learning on your terms, rather than a teacher explaining stuff to you. SimCity comes right out of Montessori—if you give people this model for building cities, they will abstract from it principles of urban design." - Will Wright, designer of The Sims

I really enjoyed the Montessori method. I could grow at my own pace.” - Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google
