The events will be divided into small groups called "waves," and each wave will begin three minutes apart.  Typically the FastTry adults will go first, and then the FirstTry adults, and then the kids from both events.

Course Descriptions
 
Swim – Easy 300 yard out-and-back swim in Byram Lake.  The water temperature will be between 75 and 80 degrees F.  WARM, COMFORTABLE, SAFE.  Athletes who feel uncomfortable swimming may request the services from any of the number of kayaks that will be lining the course. 
 
Bike – 9.1 mile loop starting from the transition area located at the beach parking lot at Linden County Park.  The bike course will head north on Linden Rd (Bridge St), go though town, and turn right on Rolston Rd toward Jennings Rd.  You will then turn left (North) on Jennings Rd and head to Lahring Rd.  At Lahring Rd you will turn left (West) and continue on Lahring Rd to Linden Rd.  You'll make a final left turn (South) Linden Rd, go past Rolson Rd, through town, and back to Linden County Park to the transition area.
 
Run – 2 miles out and back from the transition area onto the bike path, toward the turn around at soccer fields.
 

Miscellaneous

Awards: All finishers of FirstTry and FastTry will receive an Official Triathlon Medallion at the finish line.  Age group awards will be given to FastTry winners only.
 
Ages: All ages are welcome and we will have age groups for the kids too. 

What to wear: Most athletes wear a swimsuit then just throw on either their bike shorts or running shorts for each portion of the event. Bring a large towel if you wish to change. No public nudity, please!

Bike Inspections: Bikes will be checked to see that wheel levers are secure when you arrive in the morning.

Bike Racks in Transition Zone: We have specially designed bike racks that hold your bike and leave room for you to have your running and swimming gear along side. 

Mountain or Road Bike: It does not matter, road bikes are faster but mountain bikes let you check out the scenery a bit better. It is also fun passing a road bike while on your mountain bike. 

Helmets: Mandatory gear - no exceptions!

Entry includes: Wicking tech-materical race t-shirt, race results, pre- and post-race refreshments and the coveted "FirstTry Triathlon" finisher’s medallion.

Early Registration (through Friday 6/5/15) -- $50
Late Registration (6/6/15 through 6/17/15) -- $60

Race Weekend Registration (Friday 6/19/15 - ONLY) -- $75

   * NO race day registration will be offered!


Transfers 

Visit the My Events page on ACTIVE.com to manage all of your event registrations.  From there, you can edit your personal information, claim registrations, transfer registrations and more.  Participants can transfer from FirstTry to FastTry (or vice versa) for free. If you are unable to race, you can transfer your registration to another participant for $10.  All transfers must be made by the end of early registration (through Friday, 6/5/15). 

NOTE:  As with nearly all triathlons, participating in the event also requires you to have a USAT membership.  USAT stands for United States of America Triathlon, and is the governing body of all multi-sport events, and is also a subsidiary of the United States Olympic Committee.  If you already have a USAT membership, great!  If not, you will have the opportunity to purchase a 1-day adult membership during registration for $12 (1-day youth is $10).  You can also purchase a yearly membership during registration if you plan to participate in several triathlons.  For more information regarding USAT memberships, please visit USAT's website directly.
