First Step Nursery is enrolling now!

Our Wee Bears and Big Bears playrooms offer morning and afternoon nursery provision for children aged between 1½ to school age within the Musselburgh East catchment area.

We are in partnership with East Lothian Council meaning we provide funded places for 3 and 4 year olds as well as some 2 year olds.

Here are just some of the great things we offer;

·     Highly qualified, experienced and long standing staff
 Excellent and very good reports from Care Inspectorate and Education Scotland
 Low child to adult ratios
 Nature Nurture sessions for Big Bear children
 Online Learning Journals for 3 and 4 year olds giving parents access to their child’s learning at any time
 Daily access to the outdoors
 Opportunities for parent/carers to get involved in the project in various ways including; classes,  volunteering roles, subgroups or by joining our Board.

Jane and Alasdair's retirement

The project manager, Jane and our treasurer Alasdair retired this week. The Management Committee, families and staff would like to take this opportunity to wish them all the best for the future and thank them for their dedication to First Step.

Edinburgh Rugby volunteer week

First Step were chosen as part of Fourth One and Edinburgh Rugby Gives it a Try campaign. We'd like to thank the team from Edinburgh for their hard work in volunteering to paint the fence in the children's garden. Watch a clip below of the team in action!

Our Latest Education Scotland Inspection Report
First Step was inspected by Education Scotland and received a very positive report. The inspector highlighted happy, confident and articulate children and the positive relationships between children, parents, the community and staff.

Our visit to the Scottish Parliament 
First Step were invited to First Ministers Questions at the Scottish Parliament on Thursday 13th September 2012. Musselburgh MSP, Colin Beattie wanted to highlight four community organisations and was extremely impressed by the work done at First Step community project.
