Old Hickory Village Community Garden

First Baptist Church Old Hickory is sponsoring this community garden space as an outreach to the neighborhood. The church has donated the use of the land at 1105 Hadley Ave, across the street from the church building.
All neighbors are invited to help in the garden or participate in related activities including classes about gardening, composting, healthy cooking, preserving, and field trips to other local farms and gardens.
The Old Hickory Village Community Garden will
1) allow families to grow their own food in a 4 x 12 foot plot,
2) provide for families in need,
3) educate families and children about growing food, and
4)encourage children/teenagers to engage in a pastime theycan be proud of.

Village Bicycle Ministry

FBCOH’s bicycle ministry was established in the Summer of 2011 to reach out to families in our community by sponsoring group bicycle rides and bicycle related events.  The Village Bicycle Ministry helps repair bikes & recycle people's unused bikes by giving them to kids and adults that are in need of a bicycle.  This ministry has also provided helmets and bike safety training to kids in the neighborhood.

Friendship Community Church

Our “Church Plant,” Friendship Community Church, is pastored by Rev. Todd Stevens, and is located in Mt. Juliet TN.  They meet in Lakeview Elementary School every Sunday at 10:30am.  They are a relaxed church with a relaxed atmosphere.  Their Mission: To continually grow in love for God and others, joyfully serve them, and intentionally lead others to do the same.

Souls 4 Souls

They have a simple mission: to impact as many lives as possible with the gift of shoes.  They are encouraging churches, youth groups, and small groups to get involved by collecting shoes in order to make a huge impact in their own hearts and lives around the world.  These are the shoes your family has that are just hanging around.  The footwear industry makes a matching new shoe donation for each used pair donated.  Contact them via the website for details on how your group can coordinate a shoe drive.

Mission Trips

In recent years, our church sent mission teams to countries including Venezuela and Honduras. Others have taken trips to nearby states for hurricane and tornado relief efforts.  We have also been to the Appalachian mountains of Kentucky to help ministries serving in that area.   Below is a video that tells of the 2007 trip to Honduras from the perspective of some of those who went.
