Statement of Faith

Statement of Faith

1. The Bible: We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16)

2. God: We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons; that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct, but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 8.6; Genesis 1:1; Isaiah 45:21-22)

3. God the Father: We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power and love. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, that He hears and answers prayers, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. (John 4:23-24; Isaiah 45:17; Romans 12:1-2; 1 John 5:11-15)

4. Jesus Christ: We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, sinless in His life and making atonement for the sin of the world by His death on the Cross. We believe in His bodily resurrection, His personal, visible, bodily and premillennial return to the earth according to His promise. We believe in His perpetual intercession for His people at the right hand of God. (John 3:14-16; Matthew 1:18-25; 2 Corinthians 5.21; Ephesians 1:7; John 11:25; Matthew 28:6; Acts 1:9-11; Hebrews 4:14-16; Revelation 19:11-16)

5. The Holy Spirit: We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and the Son to convince the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, empower and indwell all who believe in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide. (John 16:8-11; John 14:26; Titus 3:15)

6. Man: We believe that man was created in the image of God but fell into sin, and therefore, man is by nature and by choice sinful and lost. We believe Holy Spirit regeneration is absolutely essential for salvation, and man is justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. (Genesis 1:26; Genesis 3:1-24; Romans 3.23; Titus 3:5; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 John 1:7)

7. Satan: We believe in the personality of Satan, who is the unholy god of this age, and the author of all the powers of darkness, and who is destined to the judgment of eternal justice in the lake of fire. We believe Hell is a place of eternal conscious punishment of all unwed. (Job 1:6-7; Luke 16:23; Revelation 20:15)

8. Regeneration: Since all men are sinners, we believe they are under condemnation and in need of salvation. We believe that in order to be saved, sinners must be born again; that the new birth is a new creation in Christ Jesus; that it is instantaneous and not a process; that in the new birth, the one dead in trespasses and in sins is made a partaker of the divine nature and receives eternal life, the free gift of God; that the new creation is brought about in a manner above our comprehension, solely by the power of the Holy Spirit on the basis of Divine truth, so as to secure our voluntary obedience to the gospel that its proper evidence appears in the holy fruits of repentance and faith and newness of life. We believe that the "born again" Christian is eternally "hid with Christ in God." (John 10:28-29; Romans 8.38-39)

9. The Church: We believe the Church is an elect company of believers baptized by the Holy Spirit into one spiritual body of which Jesus Christ is the Head. We believe in the local church, a company of baptized believers in Jesus Christ associated for work, worship and fellowship. We believe the primary task of the church is the giving of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world. (Acts 2:41; Ephesians 1:3-6; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 1:6-8)

10. Ordinances: We believe in the observance of the ordinances which Christ committed to the Church: Baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the Triune God. We believe that the Lord's Supper was instituted by Christ for the commemoration of His death, burial, and resurrection and should be administered until His return. (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:3-5; Matthew 3:16; 1 Corinthians 11:2334)

11. Christian Conduct: We believe that a Christian should live for the glory of God and the wellbeing of his fellowmen; that his conduct should be blameless before the world; that he should be a faithful steward of his possessions; and that he should seek to realize for himself and others the full stature of maturity in Christ. (Romans 15:1-6; Galatians 6:1-6; 1 Thessalonians 5:11-15; 1 Corinthians 4:1-2)

12. Religious Liberty: We believe that every human being has a direct relationship with God and is responsible to God alone in all matters of faith. We believe in the autonomy of the local church and its freedom from interference by any ecclesiastical or political authority. We believe Church and State must be kept separate as having different functions. We believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interests and good order of human society; that magistrates are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored and obeyed, except in areas opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ who is the only Lord of the Conscience. (Romans 13:1-7; Titus 3:1; 1 Peter 2:13-16)

13. Church Cooperation: We believe that the local church can best promote the cause of Jesus Christ through cooperation with other churches of like faith. However, cooperation in a conference, convention or association is voluntary and may be terminated at any time. The local church may likewise cooperate with interdenominational fellowships on a voluntary, independent basis.

14. Last Things: We believe in the personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Church will be caught up to meet the Lord in the air before He appears to establish His Millennial Kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the just and the unjust; the just for eternal blessedness and reward in heaven and the unjust for judgment and eternal punishment. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Corinthians 15:51-58; Revelation 21:8)
