A New Venue for Summer 2013!!

2012 our annual event at Sandwich was cancelled due to, among other things, the Olympics and travel issues. It was hastily decided to book an alternative to Sandwich. Not, I hasten to add, to replace Sandwich but, just an alternative for this year. However, we found an absolutely cracking venue which was too good to miss and offered so much for all the different range of families that attend Multipla meets. No one that attended could believe how much there was to do in the area and how nice everywhere and everyone was, so we decided unanimously to book for next year!
My thanks go to Sharon Mura who organised EVERYTHING!!

So, where did we end up? Dorset in a word, Poole to "home in" on a place, Swanage for the main attractions and Pear Tree Park Campsite is the place to stay!

We have 16 pitches reserved, at Peartree Park, in two adjacent cul de sacs for carnival week i.e. 26/7- 3/8/ 2013 and currently there is the possibility to stay longer if you wish.
Tariff's won't be available until Oct 2012 but is likely to be around £30-35/night. Remember this is High Season, by the Sea, during school holidays and is for full electrics and awnings etc if you wish it! The prices are for a group booking and reflect that!

Pear Tree Park Camp site

We will make the weekend of Friday 26/7- Mon 29/7 the official "Ugly Buggers Gathering" with optional group mealtimes/outings to Swanage etc and then those that choose to stay on for longer can make a holiday out of it. As we say, there is plenty to do locally and the carnival itself lasts for the whole week with lots of free entertainment each day including the massive Beach, Funfair, Carnival Procession, Live Music on two stages plus LOADS.... more!

If anybody else is interested in coming along next year please let Sharon Mura know sooner rather than later how many nights you are interested in so I can allocate pitches - they are going fast!

You can email us/Facebook Us/Forum us - so its not hard to find us!!
Full links are elsewhere on this site but I have listed them below.

Dorset 2012

 'Ugly Bug Ball'

The UBB 2012 was a "stonking weekend" that we thought, due to the weather, would be a "wash out" but it was a "roaring success". Check out the Facebook group "Ugly Bug Ball" for info, pix and what else is going on!!

UBB 2012 was at:
Top End Farm
Colmworth Road
Little Staughton
Bedfordshire

Friday, 08 June 2012 at 17:00 until
Sunday, 10 June 2012 at 16:00

This year a new committee has been forged and after problems with bookings yet again at Billing Aquadrome it was thought perhaps now is the right time to try and make a move. A venue has been sought, checked over and in truth, is probably more in keeping with the size and nature of our event! As we all know times are a little hard at the moment and Billing is slowly upping it's prices, so, Top End farm will make some friends as their rates are more than attractive!

Cost = £6.60 per unit per night and electric hook up is £3.00 per unit per night
(may go up will know for def. 4th january2012)
There is the possibility of a Barn hire Friday - Sunday = £150.00 (between us) for the weekend which would allow undercover activities in the event of rain!

Full details of the site and its facilities can be found here: http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=5071

Itinerary...
The general gist of things is this:
  • Friday night ardent campers arrive and pitch up.
  • Saturday morning more arrivals and the club gazebo/flag etc go up so you can see us easily. The ardent campers will do some sight seeing on their own, stock up on groceries etc for the first event.
  • The Saturday night UBB Meal! This is held in mine/Keith and Sues, awnings and the gazebo or generally anywhere around the immediate pitch. We all bring something to eat and make a large buffet in the awning...bring a few "bevvies" and generally fill our faces and get to know the new comers like yourselves if you are camping... This year, we may have the use of the Barn giving us more room and protection from the elements.
  • Allegedly...some one is bringing some Ukeleles, guitars, a wobble board and will be entertaining/annoying us...(delete as applicable) Feel free to join in as you please and if you can play an instrument and get it there...BRING IT!

Sunday, is the main day of action...bearing in mind this is a family event:
  • 10.30 (ish) start
  • Face Painting
  • Tee shirt colouring
  • Craft classes usually making children's Ugly bugs (the kids love this)
  • Footie for the bigger kids if they want
  • other little assorted competitions children biased
For the really big kids(adults)
  • Cleanest car/belle of the ball Cleanest is obvious, belle of the ball is the best dressed up
  • Furthest travelled award...last year a Belgian family!
  • Driving challenge around the field weather permitting. Go through the cones answer questions on the highway code and stuff and challenge the wife/son/daughter/husband
  • Car clinic - Jon Welly myself and others will be available to answer questions, give advice and Jon will no doubt practicing his diagnostic skills and offering software /cd's to people who want them?!!?
3pm finish/prize giving ceremony speeches etc (as some of us have to break camp clear up and drive home!!)
There will also be a few fliers about the insurance scheme and the website links for owners in need of help with there Multi when we are not about!

PS Any questions/comments, feel free to ask either via the Yahoo forum, the website or email theuglybugball@googlemail.com
