At their meeting of January 23, 2013 the Board of Directors voted to send the FHS Facilities Project to a referendum vote.  This website contains the two years of work by the FHS Facilities Committee leading up to the RSU5 Board's vote.  For current information on the project please go to www.rsu5.org/FHSFacilities

RSU5 has convened a study of the Freeport High School building and surrounds to ensure the facility adequately meets the needs of the RSU.  The study will encompass an analysis of capacity, safety and code compliance, and support for 21st century learning.  This process is designed to result in a capital master-plan for the high-school that will support the strategic goal of delivering a world-class education for our students.  Click here to read the committee charge in full.  If you would like to contact committee members please e-mail FHSFacilities@rsu5.org

On January 18, 2012, PDT Architects presented a progress report and gathered input from the Freeport community at the Freeport Performing Arts Center.  The slides from this presentation are available here.

Freeport Performing Arts Center - January 18, 2012

June, 2012

The RSU5 Board of Directors received a Master Plan Facilities Study for Freeport High School in June.  The architect reports that we have a well maintained facility; however, there are areas in need of renovation.  There are areas of the building that do not meet security requirements, ADA compliance, and basic safety needs.  There are significant space needs for programs such as art, music, science, and STEM, among others.  Overcrowding is also a concern due to our increasing enrollments.

At their meeting of September 26, 2012, the Board authorized the expenditure of $40,000 for architectural work to develop Concept Design.  We anticipate that Concept Design work will be completed by late December/early January.
