Selections from The Chez l'Aisselle

Selections from the Chez l'Aisselle presents songs from The Chez l'Aisselle, a comedic operetta in the style of Gilbert and Sullivan. Snooty restaurateur D'Oyly Fitzgibbon thinks his new Portland restaurant is going to bring haute cuisine to new heights, especially as a food critic is coming to review the restaurant that night. Suddenly his daughter Helena shows up, announcing her engagement to lowbrow celebrity chef Sparky Phipps ("the famous-est chef on TV"). Then a new cook accidentally gives the kitchen staff food poisoning, and the food critic turns out to be D’Oyly’s ex-wife, bent on revenge. It falls to a creative sous-chef, Sue (in love with Helena), to recruit Maroun and his son Nassim (in love with Sue), from the food cart outside, to save the day.

A Bit of Crime and Punishment

A Bit of Crime and Punishment presents songs from Crime and Punishment, a hard-rock adaptation of Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s classic novel. In 1860s Russia, a young man named Raskolnikov kills and robs a pawnbroker, convinced that it can be justified for the “greater good”. As the police investigate, he moves from smugness to torment. Meanwhile, Sonya, a kind-hearted prostitute, loses her father and then step-mother, and has to care for her younger siblings, and Raskolnikov’s sister Dunya is caught between a bad marriage and an evil suitor.
