Pterophyllum scalare

A cichlid from South America, the Angelfish is usually peaceful. They may become aggressive when spawning. And they will eat any fish that can fit in their mouth. Their primary food source in the wild is Neon Tetras and Cardinal Tetras, so keep this in mind when stocking. They grow up to 6 inches long, and a very tall, so tall tanks are best for keeping them in. Minimum tank size is 30 gallons. They prefer soft, acidic water, as do all South American Fish.
