FF Multi Converter 1.8.0 - PyQt5 port

posted Jun 30, 2016, 3:53 PM by Ηλίας Σταμάτης   [ updated Jul 1, 2016, 12:17 PM ]

Yet one more version of FF Multi Converter has been released!

The changes can be summarized as follows:
  • PyQt5 port.
  • Users can now specify a custom ffmpeg path.
  • Libav/avconv support dropped (see below).
  • Document tab now allows all conversions supported by unoconv.
  • The total conversion progress bar has been removed.
  • Shutdown after conversion button added.
In case that you want to use avconv instead of ffmpeg and you have a list of compatible presets,
you can just add the path of the avconv executable to the relevant option on Preferences.

As of how to add more file extensions for all conversions types (including documents from now on)
you can see how to do it here:

Important note: If you have upgraded from a previous version of FF Multi Converter you will need to remove your settings file.
Please, remove: ~/.config/ffmulticonverter/FF\ Multi\ Converter.conf

Happy conversions!

FF Multi Converter 1.7.1

posted Jun 18, 2015, 1:48 PM by Ηλίας Σταμάτης   [ updated Jun 20, 2015, 5:45 AM ]

Another release, and a mostly bugfix one.
It fixes compatibility issues with pyqt 4.11.4, and python 3.2 and previous versions.

This version also adds a new Image tab on the Preferences window, allowing you to select the
default image conversion options and add extra file formats (supported by ImageMagick).

Take note that this version will ignore your already saved preferences. You can fix that by running:
mv ~/.config/ffmulticonverter/"FF Muli Converter.conf" ~/.config/ffmulticonverter/"FF Multi Converter.conf"

A new version of FF Multi Converter is under development and the goal is to provide a
fully up-to-date presets list among other features.

Some of the presets are obsolete or incompatible with newer versions of ffmpeg.
If you think you can help reviewing the list, feel free to fork the project and
make your changes or send me any patches/suggestions.
Your help on this one will be valuable! :)

Python3 port and PythonMagick replacement

posted Sep 12, 2013, 11:28 PM by Ηλίας Σταμάτης   [ updated May 12, 2015, 1:48 PM ]

Since more and more projects make the move to python3 and there are no serious
reasons to hold us back, FF Multi Converter is going to be ported to python3 in the
near future.

There is also a thought of using ImageMagick directly instead of the PythonMagick
library, which actually contains the python bindings of the former. The rationale for
that is that some features are missing from PythonMagick and we will also limit our

The change to ImageMagick may bring new image conversion options as well.

Invalid ffmpeg presets

posted Sep 12, 2013, 11:26 PM by Ηλίας Σταμάτης   [ updated May 12, 2015, 1:48 PM ]

Some of the default ffmpeg presets are invalid or outdated causing some video
conversions to fail. You can use this version of presets or any newer version
provided by the WinFF project or any other source. All you have to do is to download
it and import it through FF Multi Converter. Newer versions of presets will be included
by default in the next releases as well.
