Library Information

LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER

The Library Media Center provides several resources for the students and staff and is continually striving to bring in new materials that will aid in student achievement. The library promotes the Accelerated Reader program, which is designed to boost students' interest in reading as well as develop the skills they need to build and sustain reading stamina.

The Intermediate Library is open Monday through Friday from 7:20 AM until 3:15 PM.
The librarian is there from 7:15 AM until 2:40 PM. The library aid leaves at 3:15 PM each day.
Please be considerate of these hours.

OPEN LIBRARY
6th grade students may come to the library each day from 7:25 AM until 7:55 AM to return books,
take AR quizzes, and check out new books. (Wednesday times: 8:25-8:55 AM).  Sixth grade students will also come to the library every other week with their Social Studies teacher to exchange library books and take AR quizzes.

In addition to weekly scheduled classes, 4th and 5th grade students may come to the library
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 12:15 PM to 3:00 PM to return books, take AR quizzes,
and check out books. Note: there is no open library on Wednesdays, due to shortened schedules.  The library computers are available to schedule throughout each day.

SNOW DAYS, HOLIDAYS, PD DAYS
Library classes will not be rescheduled.

ABSENTEES
When students are absent, they may come to the library during open time
or when they arrive at school the day after being absent. If they choose to come after they get off the bus,
they must leave the library by 8:40 AM.

FINES

OVERDUE BOOKS: Students are expected to return or recheck their library books on their library day.  The students' library time is treated like a class, and students are expected to come prepared with their library books.  And while the Intermediate Library does not charge fines for overdue books, students may fill out behavior slips for not coming prepared to class.
If a student forgets a book at home or in the classroom, he/she is not allowed to check out another
book until the overdue book is returned.

LOST BOOKS: If a student loses a book, he/she may not check out another book until either the replacement cost of the book is paid for or a payment toward the replacement cost is made or until the book is found and returned in the same condition it was checked out.  Library books are usual library bound, not publisher bound and therefore more expensive. It is not recommended a parent find a replacement book for the library as all replacements are not created equal and will not hold up the same.

DAMAGED BOOKS: If a student damages a book, he/she may not check out another book until the replacement cost of the book is paid in full or payments have been made towards the cost of the damaged book. Student may also be charged the cost to repair the book if cost is less than the total amount of the replacement cost. Library books are usual library bound, not publisher bound and therefore more expensive. It is not recommended a parent find a replacement book for the library as all replacements are not created equal and will not hold up the same.

NUMBER OF BOOKS FOR CHECKOUT
Students may check out two books at one time and both can be Accelerated Reader books, if the student likes.

MRS. BRUMMER'S DISCIPLINE PLAN
When infractions occur, whether during scheduled time or flexible time, students will receive a behavior form.  The behavior form will be given to the homeroom teacher.  The teacher or Mrs. Brummer will administer a consequence appropriate to the behavior.  Under certain circumstances, a behavior form may be forgone and a formal write up to the principal will be given.  In turn, the principal will administer the consequence appropriate to the behavior.
