Fernando Vega just finished portraying the Cowardly Lion in the world premiere musical Oz at Lamb's Players Theatre and 
is now  a  very proud 2015 Craig Noel nominee for best featured performance in a Musical - Male for this show. At Lambs Players Theatre Fernando Vega was in Pippin, Bye Bye Birdie, She Loves Me , The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Godspell and Joseph.  San Diego REP shows include the acclaimed Corridos REMIX written by broadway playwright Luis Valdez and Kinan Valdez starring Luis Valdez, Sweet 15 (Quinceañera) by broadway writer/comedian Rick Najera, The award winning bi-national production of Nuevo California , The Merchant of Venice, Working the Musical and Buddy the Buddy Holly Story  staged in the U.S. and Canada.  Workshop productions include a lead in Restless Spirits by Allan Havis and a lead in the first workshop production of   Luis Valdez’s Earthquake Sun directed by Luis Valdez.  Welk Theatre's Man of La Mancha was Vega's first professional show. Early in his career Fernando Vega was directed by Barry Edelstein in a one person lounge/cabaret green show. This was  for Barry Edelstein's Taming Of The Shrew at Idaho Shakespeare. Vega has been featured on radio stations across the U.S.  as a classical, rock and roll or theatrical singer. His most notable performance was on National Public Radio singing with his hero the legendary father of Chicano Theatre Luis Valdez.  Mr. Craig Noel personally granted Fernando Vega a ford foundation scholarship to receive professional actor training through the Teatro Meta program at The Old Globe Theatre. In addition to this training Fernando participated in some  Vibrant Being  actor training given directly from the creator of this method Luis Valdez. Vocal training credit goes to primarily to international Opera Star Tenor Elliot Pally. Other teachers are Roy Mote, Ermin Moradi and James Cook. Fernando Vega grew up in San Diego County. He is very proud to have served as an adjunct professor of theatre for the Visual and Performing Arts Department at California State University San Marcos. Vega was the  2013 2014 Artist In Residence at U.C.S.D.'s Marshall College in La Jolla Ca.   Fernando Vega has studied in London, San Diego and Tijuana and holds a bachelor of fine arts university degree In Musical Theatre.
