Femme Freedom Philadelphia

Femme Freedom is:

Philadelphia community members joining together to collect menstrual products and diapers to empower local women in need living in local homeless shelters run by the Philadelphia Office of Homeless Services. Since 2014, we have collected over eight thousand tampons, 24 thousand pads, 11 thousand diapers and 9 thousand pantyliners.

We have collected thousands of products will continue to offset this supply need until there is legislation to change this situation. This year, we are partnering with the work of Lynette Medley and No More Secrets to provide schools and individuals in need with menstrual products.

  • Everyone deserves the dignity of clean hygiene, especially during our menstrual cycles and regardless of our backgrounds.

We urge you to TAKE ACTION with us to fight back against this stigma.

Our story:

In 2014, a local group of women who happened to be musicians and friends, joined together after learning about the struggle of women in developing countries and their experience when they menstruate. We quickly realized that homeless people in our neighborhoods were facing the same struggle, so we gathered our talents and tapped into our networks to lend a hand. In 2016, we decided to add diapers to our collection to ensure extra supplies for single parents living in temporary places. Throughout the city, women collect pads, tampons, panty liners and diapers to donate to the Office of Homeless Services every Spring.
