Omega 3 Fatty Acids

Omega-3 fatty acid supplements support optimal health in cats and are increasingly utilized as a complementary therapeutic modality for a variety of diseases including arthritis, chronic kidney disease, and skin issues.

You can add omega-3 fatty acids to the food.  The dose is 180mg of EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) daily which can be obtained over the counter in the form of gel caps, liquid, or powder.

For kidney disease, Renal Essentials is another option, which not only contains omega 3 fatty acids but also contains rehmannia, nettle seed, cordyceps, astragalus, and arginine.  This supplement was created by an alternative medicine veterinarian and can be obtained online.  It comes in big tablets that have a pleasing flavor.  Some cats will eat them or you can grind them up and put them on his/her food, or put pieces of them in pill pockets.  There is also a treat form as well.
