Customer-Generated Renewable Energy

By offering renewable energy system rebates, technical support and the opportunity to sell power at a reasonable profit, Farmers Electric Cooperative is helping our customers become power producers!
Member customers have a choice between an incentive rate or a per watt rebate.

The Farmers Electric Cooperative’s (FEC) Consumer Renewable Energy Sales program will purchase the output of qualifying photovoltaic (PV) and small wind systems at $0.08 per kilowatt hour up to monthly usage. You will continue to be billed for your electric usage using your existing meter at the current rate.

  • You must be a customer member of FEC
  • The PV or wind system must be located within FEC service territory
  • You must be enrolled as a participant in the Green Power Project
  • The system must be operational and in service on or after January 1, 2008
  • System size must be a minimum of 500 W and no larger than 50 kW

Terms and conditions

Enrollment Period: There will be a written contract between the renewable system owner and FEC for a 10-year term.

Metering and Service Facilities: Participation requires two meters. One to measure the kWhr output of the renewable energy system, and the other to measure kWhr used by the home or business.

  1. The customer shall furnish, install and wire at their expense the necessary service equipment, meter sockets, and meter enclosures that may be required by FEC to properly meter the renewable energy output.
  2. The customer must also comply with all applicable national, state, and local electric codes, rules and regulations.

Renewable Attributes: FEC will have ownership of all associated renewable attributes and allowances produced by the customer’s renewable energy system for the 10-year term.

Program Caps: Consumer system feed-in rate benefits shall be capped at monthly kWhr usage. Monthly production greater than monthly usage will be credited at $0.04 per kWhr.

No rebates available for solar and wind systems.

Please note there are Federal and State incentives for small wind and solar.
