Dr. Roz's Healing Place
Program Managers: Cassidy Lakhan & Jessica Trainor
Schedule: Mondays & Wednesdays, 6:00PM - 7:00PM

Dr. Roz's Healing Place is a shelter for women and children who are temporarily homeless due to abuse and other personal issues. The centre provides a wide range of support services for both the women their children, including literacy, English as a second language, and homework support. This program runs twice a week and the volunteers are mostly involved with helping the kids with homework. There are usually 5 to 10 children eager for homework help each week who range in age from 5 to 17.

Alexander Stirling Public School After-School Learning Program
Location: Morningside & Sheppard
Program Manager: Tyler Martin
Schedule: Thursdays, 3:20PM - 5:20PM

This after school program is similar to the after school programs at St. Gabriel Lalemant Catholic School and Military Trail Public School. Frontier College has partnered with the Malvern Family Resource Centre to provide not only homework and literacy support but also the development of life skills such as cooking and other healthy habits.

Gardenview Cooperative
Location: Kingston Rd. & Markham Rd.
Program Manager: Laxshana Srikanthan
Schedule: Wednesdays, 5:00PM - 6:30PM

Our program at Gardenview is an enrichment program for the children that reside within the housing co-operative. It runs for approximately an hour during one evening a week. The program provides after-school learning and homework support for children living in the co-op and takes place in the building's activity room.

Juliette's Place
Location: Neilson Rd. & Sewells Rd.
Program Managers: Lauren Lyew & Sadiah Khan
Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6:00PM - 7:30PM

Julliette's Place is a not-for-profit, community-based agency which provides safe refuge for abused women and their children. Volunteers are paired up with children on a one to one basis for homework help and ongoing literacy support. Being a shelter, like Dr Roz's Healing Place, children and parents are constantly moving in and out. Versatility is key in running this program because of the different age groups and fluctuating numbers of learners. Juliette's Place is always looking for male volunteers to sign up as the children look forward to positive male role models in their lives.

Military Trail Public School After School Program
Location: Military Trail & Morningside
Program Manager: Steffi Marcos
Schedule: Wednesdays, 3:15PM - 4:45PM

This after school program is very similar to the program at St. Gabriel Lalemant Catholic School. It provides learners in elementary school with additional learning and literacy support.

Military Trail Public School In-Class Program
Location: Military Trail and Morningside
Program Manager: Ashani Montgomery
Schedule: Any day (Mon. - Fri.), for at least one school period between:
8:30-11:30am (Morning Session) or 12:30-3:30pm (Afternoon Session)

Volunteers tutors are assigned to a teacher and class according to their availability. Tutors can participate with the class for more than one period or volunteer in multiple classes if they wish. Tutors support children who need extra help with the subject matter. Many students are from recent newcomer families.
