550P - Sick Leave Bank and Short-term and Long-term Disability Plans

Frederick County Public Schools provides a sick leave bank for full-time and permanent part-time employees covered by VRS Plan 1 and Plan 2 retirement plans who have prolonged, catastrophic, or long-term illness or injury, and who have exhausted their own sick leave. The bank shall be maintained as long as at least one-third (1/3) of the eligible members participate in the bank.

Employees covered by the VRS Hybrid retirement plan are eligible for a short-term disability plan and a long-term disability plan as defined by the Code of Virginia and administered by the school division through its designated provider.
