410P - Attendance, Absence, and Tardiness

Student attendance is a cooperative effort, and the School Board involves parents and students in accepting the responsibility for good attendance.

Each parent/guardian or person having control or charge of a child within the compulsory attendance age is responsible for such child’s regular and punctual attendance at school as required under provisions of the law.

Principals are responsible for providing all students and their parents/guardians with information about the importance of regular school attendance as well as the school division’s attendance policy and regulations.

It is the principal’s responsibility to insure that each member of the faculty and each substitute understand the procedure to maintain class attendance records and their responsibilities regarding attendance in general.

The Superintendent promulgates regulations that will assure compliance with compulsory attendance laws and promote student attendance.

Nothing in this policy or associated regulations shall be construed to limit in any way the authority of any student support specialist or the Superintendent to seek immediate compliance with the compulsory school attendance law.
