In 2009 the Farmers Branch Parks and Recreation Department, Farmers Branch Community and Chapel Hill United Methodist Church broke ground together to build the Farmers Branch Community Garden, which features 62 plots, a composting area and a community orchard. This garden encourages the building of a community that will nurture the earth through sustainable gardening while growing healthy food for both the family and the community through Metrocrest Social Services.
Volunteers are actively involved through meetings, special projects and work days and continue to plant and tend to their gardens throughout the year.
